Golf

Golf

Now that you have solidified your plans for the upcoming fiscal year, spend an afternoon or quiet morning on the greens, which look even greener set against the rolling inland hills and azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Hua Hin is the true birthplace of golf in Thailand, and Anantara is within driving distance of 5 of the country's best courses.

One of the oldest and most difficult courses in Thailand, the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is also one of the most spectacular. Set behind Hua Hin railway station, this course is only a short drive from Anantara.

Only a few minutes' drive from the resort, the Max Wexler-designed Palm Hills Golf Resort & Country Club has hosted several prestigious tournaments, including the Heineken Open and the inaugural Thailand World Pro Am tournament.

The Imperial Lakeview Resort & Golf Club, a 20-minute drive from the resort, was designed by Roger Packard. It is friendly, scenic and a great course for beginners.

Approximately 35 minutes from the resort, the Majestic Creek & Country Club offers all levels of play against the spectacular backdrop of the mountains bordering Burma.

Finally, for a challenge, Springfield Golf & Country Club, a half-hour drive from Anantara is the area's premier Jack Nicklaus-designed course.

History & cultural tours

History & cultural tours

Once the meeting adjourns, explore the rich cultural and historical attractions that surround Anantara Hua Hin. One of Thailand's first seaside retreats, Hua Hin owes its existence to royal discovery, when the princes and princesses of the royal family uncovered the beauty of the area and began constructing royal holiday mansions and bungalows which still dot the countryside today.

On your excursion, your team can catch a glimpse of King Rama VII's famed "Far from Worries" Palace, built here in the 1920s. This elegant Spanish style residence – the current residence of His Majesty – rises next to the sea and is surrounded by graceful gardens with imported sculpture. While visitors are no longer allowed to tour this palace, the unique seaside Maruekkahathaiyawan Palace offers visitors the chance to explore its elevated golden teak walkways and open-air pavilions, built in a fusion of Victorian and Thai traditions.

For a more down-to-earth taste of local culture, visit Fisherman's Pier. Not far from Anantara, the area's main pier bustles with local colour. Though the city has developed, Hua Hin is still a fishing village at heart. Watch as fishermen set out for the day or walk by in the evening as boats head back to shore to unload their catch.
